BBC Shakespeare’s Animated Series: Julius Caesar

Do you agree that Brutus had a noble motive when murdering his adopted father, Julius Caesar? Discuss.

After I have watched BBC Shakespeare’s Animated Series: Julius Caesar, I am agree that Brutus had a noble motive when murdering his adopted father, Julius Caesar. In the movie shows Caesar was killed in 15th March 44 BC by 60 of Roman senators that led by Gaius Cassius Longinus and his adopted son, Marcus Junius Brutus. They stabbed Caesar about 23 times until death in the Theatre of Pompey. In addition, Brutus did like that because he loved Rome than Caesar and it shows that he wanted to save Rome from Caesar domination. He knows that his adopted father is very cruel, also had done so many immoral acts towards the society by sleeping all the wives of the senators and he did not show the good attitudes for being a great leader to his country.

Other than that, Brutus does not hate Caesar but he is just afraid that Caesar must turn into a tyrant and it will make Rome become more suffer. That is why Brutus killed Julius Caesar and it is show that he had a very noble motive by killing Julius Caesar  and he also thinks about others.

Ancients behaving badly: Julius Caesar

Based on the documentary A.B.B, do you think all the vices committed by Julius Caesar were necessary in order to safeguard the superiority of Rome as the greatest civilization in the ancient world?

Based on the documentary that I have watched I think all the vices committed by Julius Caesar were unnecessary in order to safeguard the superiority of Rome. He is actually was a great leader, he manage to guide Rome in a supreme place before century. Other than that, he knows how to handle the politics and armies but Julius Caesar behaviour in order to protect Rome can be classified as cruel. He does not care what people say, he’s doing an immoral acts by sleeping all the wives of the senators to show to the other man that he is immortal and no one dares to fights him. Besides, Julius Caesar also watched 20,000 of women and children died in starvation just because he did not let the people passed the circumvallation to protect his army.

In conclusion, even though Julius Caesar was making Rome a powerful empire during his time but I think Julius Caesar’s vices were unnecessary in order to protect Rome and he has no humanity and morality. He enjoy himself by seen other people being suffer.

Jack the Ripper - From Hell

Distinguish between facts and fictions that are portrayed in the movie @ Which aspect of the plot that is accurate to the historical fact in the JTR murders and which aspect of the plot that is based on the filmmakers' own imagination.

I have seen the movie, From Hell starring Johnny Depp and Heather Graham that given by Mr. Kama and read the story about Jack the Ripper in Study Guide of Critical Literacy. I notice that there have different between facts and fiction  that are portrayed in the movie and historical fact in the Jack the Ripper.

In the film, Jack the Ripper is a cruel murderer and his case never solved until now and it has been more than 100 years passed and shows all the Ripper victims as being close-knit friends, but there is no evidence to support that all of the victim are friends even there came from the same area. Besides, most of the suspects are wealthy and educated men such as Prince Albert, Dr. William Whitey Gull, Walter Sickert, and other 25 men. Jack the Ripper killed five women which is all of them are prostitutes. Prince Albert has been accused as Jack the ripper because people believed that he is married to Annie Crook. However, later people found out that there are no marriage record listing Prince Albert is Annie’s husband.

Other than that, it appears as though an "Annie Crook" did in fact exist, there is no evidence that she ever knew any of the Ripper victims, or that she had an affair with Prince Albert Victor and had his child. There is also no evidence of any lobotomy. This first appeared in Stephen Knight’s entire Jack the Ripper, and no other researcher has ever been able to corroborate his findings.

Jack the Ripper in America

There were many suspects in the JTR murders over the years. What is the evidence that supports the claim that James Kelly was JTR? If you are a rival detective, how do you eliminate all the evidence that you've identified in the documentary?

I have watched documentary "Jack the Ripper in America" that given by Mr. Kama. From what I have found from this case, I would say that James Kelly was JTR. It is because I have found something similar about the suspect and James Kelly.

James Kelly suspected as Jack the Ripper because the way he killed his wife is the same as the five canonical were killed. He was sent to asylum because he killed his wife by stabbing her in the neck. Then he manage to escape from Broadmoor Asylum using his own fashioned key in 1888. During him in the asylum, there is no news about the killing. After he escaped and being a fugitive, Ripper's activities become active. This is become confident when the police found a prostitute named Carrie Brown was found that in year 1888.

The character of James Kelly make him as Jack the Ripper because he worked as a furniture upholsterer that requires people who is expert in handling knife. Other than this lingering question I do think James Kelly fits very well as JTR. He could just possibly be one of the worst serial killers ever in history.

ANCIENT ALIENS: THE EVIDENCE

State several evidence which support the ancient astronaut theory. Discuss whether you agree or disagree to the evidence that you have identified.

I have watched the video about Ancient Aliens: The Evidence and I found that the video is very interesting that ancient people have the knowledge and their capabilities to build something that we have today like space shuttle and aircraft. Is not it awesome?

One of the evidence that I found in the video which support the ancient astronaut theory is the discovery of a bird model that symbolized “I Want to Fly”. This is found in Egyptian pyramid located in Egypt during the pharaoh reigned. One of the items that the archeologist discovered was a small wooden model of a bird flying besides the pharaoh with the description “I want to fly”. The artifact was later sent to the museum ad was placed with other birds collection. In 1969, they examined the birds collection and found something different about the pharaoh bird. It was discovered that the model of bird had aerodynamic design which the wings thicker from the middle to the inside and gets thinner towards the end of the wings. According to experts, this symbolizes a flying aircraft. This statement was supported by Dr Algund Eenboom who the CEO-Author of Aircraft of the pharaoh. Later in 2006, they built the model of the bird but five times larger in order to test its capability to fly. The end result showed that the pharaoh bird was actually a glider. Therefore, it is a fact that our ancient ancestors are intelligence and have the abilities to build what we have today in modern world.

Another evidence that I found from the video which support the ancient astronaut theory is the discovery of dozens of objects that look like an insect or fish that epitomize fire jets. This happened in Columbia around 1500 years. The experts found hundreds of small objects that look like insect and fish. But out of those hundreds, they found about a dozen of early reminiscence of modern day fire jets. These objects had triangular shape, upright tail fin, stabilizers and have nothing in common or similar to anything in nature. I agree with the evidence identified as it is not easy to create a model with aerodynamic design and it is a surprise that people in ancient time actually have that knowledge. German experts built model without change anything and to their surprise that pre Columbian culture know about aerodynamic. It was found that the shape of the objects similar to aerodynamic space shuttle with high speed aerodynamic body. No single insects have that kind of body.

I definitely agree with those evidences presented above as the shape of the model and objects are perfectly created by the native people. It was a very successful test that the place was able to take off. This suggest and shows us how ancient people working on aerodynamic designs.

SUPER SIZE ME

Based on the facts presented in this documentary are you convinced that fast food is the main cause of obesity in United States and around the world?

Obesity is an epidemic in the United States and in other developed countries. More than two-thirds of Americans are overweight, including at least one in five children. Nearly one-third are obese. Obesity is on the rise in our society because food is abundant and most of us are employed in positions that require little to no physical activity. Based on the evidences in Super Size Me movie, I believe that fast food is not solely responsible for obesity because but rather it is caused by the laziness to involve in physical activities, the genetic, people demands, and also poor mentality and sedentary lifestyle of the people nowadays.

As we can see, televisions now outnumber human beings in American households. Thus, people on average are much more involved in sitting and playing video games instead of using their bodies to play outside. Besides, people use power tools like leaf blowers and machines such as riding mowers far more than rakes or push mowers and that women have taken on non-physically-oriented jobs in the workplace in record numbers. These examples are succinct enough to tell us what are the leading causes for obesity and heart disease epidemics. I believe that sedentary lifestyles and not fast food are the true biggest threat to health.

In the Super Size Me movie, the documentary maker Morgan Spurlock himself chose to switch to unbalanced food and all Mc Donald’s diet for 30 days, but when did so, he stopped his former regular workout at the same time. Evidently, the biggest culprit behind his quick deterioration of health was his suddenly sedentary lifestyle not the fast food diet. If a person is physically active, he can eat whatever he feels like eating without worrying about becoming obese. Intense physical exercise causes the body to burn away stores of fat, leaving behind lean muscle that efficiently uses the food the body takes in to rebuild and sustain itself.

In Al Jazeera 101 East : Malaysian Affirmative Action

Choose 1 of the 3 guests featured on the talk show 101 East. Then apply discourse analysis. State whether you agree or disagree towards the proposition, premises and arguments that you have identified.

Based on talk show 'In Al Jazeera 101 East : Malaysian Affirmative Action', I am choosing the first speaker Chow Kon Yeow who is a senior Democratic Action Party (DAP) representative from the three guests. The other speaker is Datuk Seri Dr. Ibrahim Saad, former Deputy Chief Minister of Penang and Professor Azeem Farouk, a political lecturer at University Science of Malaysia (USM). By using discourse analysis, here are the conclusion, proposition, premise and argument.

Conclusion : Most Malaysians are unhappy and not agree about the approaches of NEP.

Proposition : NEP is not a bad policy as the implementation is the one that is unsuitable to Malaysian.

Premise 1 : NEP has many abuses and corruption is one of it in terms of giving the speciality.

Argument : NEP mostly is given to politically connected people rather than the other Malays and Bumiputras.

Premise 2 : Keadilan will set Malaysian Economic Agenda (MEA) to replace NEP.

Argument : Make new policies by comparing to NEP performance in the past two or three decades.

I am disagreed with Chow Kon Yeow preposition about NEP because he just gives opinion for Chinese advantages and not for Malays. Therefore, people believe with UMNO and NEP because it helps them and not like he was trying to convey. Besides, he said that NEP just has many abuses and corruption, but other parties also have corruption.

A Leader’s Legacy Tun Abdul Razak

A leader’s legacy Tun Abdul Razak discuss whether or not Tun Abdul Razak’s son, our current Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib is continuing his father’s legacy primarily in affirmative action.

I have watched the first video that Mr. Kamaraziz asks in Google Plus through Youtube. It is a story more about Tun Abdul Razak leadership of our beloved country. For me, the video have showed how Tun Abdul Razak got independence for people with uses his wisdom and patience.

So, the question for that video Datuk Seri Najib is continuing his father’s legacy primarily in affirmative action? Affirmative action means positive steps taken to make up for past discrimination against that minority. In my opinion, I think Datuk Seri Najib is continuing his father’s legacy primarily in affirmative action. This is because he can lead the country well as his father and is responsible for the performance of his duties as a leader. He also builds and upgrades the country's economy by eliminating poverty and emphasizes the importance of the people.

For example, he had a ‘Jelajah Janji Ditepati’ throughout the state to meet people. While listening to the complaints and concerns of the people, he also managed to solve the problems they face, the saying ‘sambil berenang minum air’. Through various programs such BR1M and TR1M well as many other types of assistance directly to citizens promised in the Economic Transformation Programme, the Prime Minister has shown that such promises are true and have been met. He kept his word by enabling citizens to create 1Malaysia to combine all race without strife, he also gives money to help citizens the less privileged to reduce the burden and vouchers to all university students to buy learning materials. Accordingly, he promotes the country in the eyes of the world.

Gandhi My Father

Do you think Gandhi is responsible for the tragic end of his eldest son, Hariral.

I have watched movie that was directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and produced by Anil Kapoor which is Gandhi My Father. If people watched this movie they must thought that Gandhi is a bad father. But for me Gandhi is a great father and a great leader because he knows the best what he does.

So, I think Gandhi is not responsible on the tragic end of his eldest son, Hariral. This is because the offense of Hariral itself, he is an ungrateful person. Besides, relationship between Hariral and Gandhi are also not good because he wants to continue his education at England but Gandhi did not give him a chance. For me, Gandhi do like that because have own reason and he knows well what the weakness of his eldest son, Hariral also had failed for three times in examination. Whatever happened Gandhi always patience with his son behavior and he never scolded Hariral.

Few days after his mother died, his life became more severe and the relationship with Gandhi became estranged. Gandhi has asked Hariral to follow his step to fight for their country and invited his son to come with him to the Ashram to build new live but Harilal refused to follow him. I can see how Gandhi fights for his nation but sadly his son does not see it. Through that story have been see that Gandhi is not guilty and responsible because Hariral was stubborn and himself who made his life became worst.

GANDHI

In your opinion, do you think Gandhi has failed in his life work which is to promote non-violence and reuniting the people of India.

I have watched movie that was directed and produced by Sir Richard Attenborough as Gandhi. Gandhi based on the life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. From my opinion, I think Gandhi does not failed in his life work which is to promote non-violence and reuniting the people of India. This is because Gandhi succeeds to liberate India from the British and no more war again until he died. It begins when the story flashes back 55 years to a life changed in 1893, Gandhi was thrown off a South African train for being an Indian sitting in first class even had a ticket.

After he realizes the laws are biased against Indians, he decided to start a non-violent protest campaign for the rights of all Indians in South Africa and it show that he concern with Indian right and reuniting the people of India. He does everything for reuniting the people of India. One of the evidence, he has successfully make India and Pakistan make peace at the end of the story. Employing non-violent civil disobedience, Gandhi led India to independence and inspired movements for non-violence, and freedom around the world. Seeing Gandhi is an experience that will change many minds and hearts, he also opens the world eyes. I am very enjoying this movie and the more important is I can learn something from this movie.

Sherlock : A Study in Pink

Do you think Sherlock is an emphatic character? Why?

I think Sherlock Holmes in movie ‘A Study in Pink’ is an emphatic character because the ways he tried to solve the crime by put himself at the victim place being empathy and he knows the entire thing that happens. The weirder the crime, the more he gets off. He does all the things because he likes it and him not paid or anything.

For example is when he tried to settle case victim of the latest serial suicide, a woman in a garish pink suit dead on the floor. Sherlock just described a victim and background by just looking at their appearance, when he saw the ring on victim finger he deduced that victim unhappy marriage. Besides that, when Sherlock first met Dr. Watson, he can know everything about the doctor and the doctor was surprised on how Sherlock can know about his background.

Sherlock Holmes is just as brilliant but he is definitely not quite normal in the sense that is rare to meet someone this particular brand of eccentric, brilliant or otherwise. He was amazing consulting detective. For me, emphatic describes something that is said or done with strong emotion or action.

Documentary 1 : Test Your Brain

Describe several eureka moments that you have experienced throughout watching the documentary.

Based on documentary 1 ‘Test Your Brain” was making me surprise and got eureka moment with the action because I am to concentrate and pay attention on their character in the several games in that video.

The first ‘Eureka Moment’ when I am watching that documentary is on Pay Attention Game #4 which Apollo Robbins, who the slightest hand expert try to show how he steals the thing such as scarf, handkerchief, wallet and mobile phone without the victim notice it. Apollo Robbins trying to attract the attention of the victim during the conversation until the victim is not aware that their belongings have been stolen by Apollo. I never thought of ways to talk distract, thief can steal without victim noticed and now I am know how thief steal money.

Secondly ‘Eureka Moment’ when I am watching that documentary is on Pay Attention Game #5 which Petrus Venter, who good in multitask. He believes can do several thing at one time effectively and he is given two tasks to deal with, talking on the phone while driving. He must answer the basic question and at the same time he needs to drive with uniquely challenging in the road. For me it is too dangerous and I was shocked when see that but Petrus can perform nicely. But for second task, the result has been showed that our brain just only can focus one task at one time.

Not everyone can do a lot of works in one time and attention is important to do something. This documentary try to test our brain either left and right brain can pay attention at the same time.
